Mary Chifungo Umali’s Story
Mary and her two younger sisters live in a “house” that—sadly—is too common in the villages surrounding The Passion Center. So many of the households that our Passion children live in are in desperate need of repair or entire rebuilding.
The Passion Center is committed to “caring for the whole child, in the whole community, for their whole lives,” in the name of Jesus. The condition of these homes is an important aspect of caring for our children.
Most of the Passion children either live with a sick, elderly grandparent or in a child headed household like Mary’s. They do not have the resources or strength to repair or rebuild their homes. The Passion Center has repaired and even rebuilt several of the worst homes, but the need is great.
